Price of agricultural products drop by 0.3 percent in Azerbaijan

In May, consumer price index for agricultural commodities in Azerbaijan was 99.7 percent compared to the previous month, and increased by 4.3 percent in January-May compared to same period last year, the State Statistics Committee reported.

In May, prices of crops, melon-growing and horticulture fell by 1.1 percent (for five months dropped by 3.8 percent) compared to April, including cereal crops and plants from other groups - 1.7 percent (9 percent), including vegetables, as well as specialized products and melon-growing seedlings - 0.7 percent (2.1 percent), fruits and nuts - no change (with the increase of 13.2 percent over January-May), and prices for citrus grew by 4.7 percent (an increase of 34.1 percent), sub-tropical fruits cheaper by 0.5 percent (an increase of 13.3 percent), and so on.

In May, production of livestock and cattle went up by 0.4 percent (in January-May - by 8.2 percent), including mutton - at 2.1 percent (46.2 percent), goat and ovine milk - no change (18.2 percent), poultry - 1.9 percent (2 percent cheaper) and eggs are also cheaper by 17.5 percent (20.3 percent), natural honey has kept prices unchanged (went up by 52.2 percent). However, prices of fish and fish products remained unchanged.
