USAID trains Turkmen state officials in econometrics modeling

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) completed training on econometrics for specialists of economic and banking sectors of Turkmenistan on July 10, press-release of the agency said.

The course was focused on major approaches of economic modeling and software on econometrics analysis EViews admitted worldwide and used for total statistics and econometric analyses, calculations and forecasting, as well as modeling and computations having different functions and mechanisms.  

Listeners of course include specialists of the ministry of economy and development, the ministry of finances, the Central Bank, the state statistics committee and the institute of strategic planning and economic development of Turkmenistan.

USAID gave 10 licenses of software on econometrics analyses EViews to above-mentioned departments after completion of course. This course and software are directed to promote potential of Turkmen scientific employees and analysts in economy to conduct macroeconomic modeling, as well as more effective making decisions towards economic development of Turkmenistan.  

This course of training was organized via USAID project Increase of competitiveness via economic reforms (EREC). USAID has granted over $80 million to implement programs to support economic development, social sector and public initiatives in Turkmenistan since 1993.
