Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Aug.18 / Trend H.Hasanov /

The Turkmen Construction Ministry developed a general plan for construction of the Caspian modern megalopolis, which will be the administrative part of the Turkmenbashi ancient city.

The Turkmenbashi city was founded in 1869 and during the former USSR the city was named Krasnovodsk.

The general plan was presented to President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, who examined the area, on which the "future megalopolis" is planned to be built, the governmental agency reported.

"New town, which will be built on the shore of the Caspian Sea should correspond to all parameters of the status of the created world-class resort here," the head of the state said after hearing the results of geodesic and other studies conducted by experts in coastal areas.

According to Berdimuhammedov, the administrative facilities, housing and socio-cultural facilities, transport, communication and engineering infrastructure for all the criteria should meet world standards, organically combine the modern trends in architecture, landscape design and features of the national architecture.

Speaking about issues related to the development of the urban environment - streets, public gardens and squares, Berdimuhamedov demanded to take special control on greening the city and the national tourist zone Avaza, which will become a sort of "visit card" of Turkmenistan at its western areas.

This problem should be solved taking into account local soil and climatic conditions, based on strictly scientific approach.

"Just providing a comprehensive solution of all tasks, we will achieve the desired results- to create a beautiful and modern city-garden, which will be comfortable and convenient for its inhabitants and for our guests," Berdimuhammedov said.

Particular attention was paid to compliance with the ecological safety standards.

The establishment of the Turkmenbashi city and the national tourist zone "Avaza"- a special economic area with a privileged visa, customs and tax regime for companies operating here, served as a start area for the large-scale project, the national TV channel Altyn Asyr reported.

The Caspian region has a crucial role in the Turkmen new economic strategy, the governmental press-service said.

The diverse natural resources, favorable geopolitical position at the crossroads of transport routes, running on the Eurasian continent for a long time, climatic conditions enabling development of spa-relaxation centers, number of industrial infrastructure - the totality of these and other factors, create unique conditions for the dynamic development of the province, allows to get fast enough a real return on investment, the same source said.

According to plans, seaport in the Turkmenbashi city will be fully modernized. National Fleet buys the cruise ships, yachts and other vessels.

The Turkmenbashi-Ashgabat-Farabi throughway length 1,500 kilometers and the Eralievo-Turkmenbashy-Bereket-Gorgan railway being built jointly by Turkey, Iran and Kazakhstan  to become shortest route to bind Europe and South Asia, will be the important parts of international transport soon .
