The Azerbaijani Mountaineering Federation organized an expedition to Azerbaijan's second highest mountain, Mount Shahdag, on August 10. Besides 11 experienced climbers of the Mountaineering Federation, including a woman, a group of Accord company employees group also participated in the expedition, the company said.
The expedition's goal was to reach the top of Heydar Aliyev Peak on Mount Shahdag and raise an Accord company flag there.
It should be noted that the Shahdag National Park was set up upon a decree from the President of Azerbaijani. Decree N1814 is dated December 8, 2006. Mount Shahdag is 4,243 meters high and is part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range.
The expedition was completed by placing an Accord company flag on the summit of Heydar Aliyev Peak on August 15.
This summit was first climbed in 1998 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the nation's leader Heydar Aliyev's birth.
