Georgia's external debt for year increases by almost 60 percent

As of Aug.31, 2009, Georgia' external debt was 5,228,302,000 lari (1.69 lari is $1), the Georgian Finance Ministry said on Sept.10.

Georgia owns 3, 457, 233, 000 lari on loans from the international financial institutions.

The total amount of Georgia's debt on the bilateral agreements is 916, 419, 000 lari and on funds received under eurobonds - 842, 900, 000 lari.

The amount of external debt on loans borrowed under the state guarantees totaled $11.75 million.

As of July 31, 2009, the external debt amounted to 5, 145, 973, 000 lari. However in August, 2008 this index was 3, 287, 779, 000 lari.
