Turkish company to build cement plant in Turkmenistan

The Turkmen Construction Materials Industry Ministry and Turkish "Polimex Inshaat Taahut ve Sanayi Ticaret A.S" company has signed a contract on the construction of a cement plant with a capacity of 1 million tons of cement per year in the Garlyk village of the Lebap District, Koytandag region.

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov attended the ground breaking ceremony of the new facility, the Turkmen media reported.

Under the contract, the construction is scheduled to commence in November 2009 and to put the plant into operation in November 2011.

The necessary raw material will be mined in a quarry, located not far from the plant, and about 1,000 people will serve its technological lines. The ready products will be shipped from the plant to the construction sites in the country in two years.
