The Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry has extended for a month the State Grain Fund's announcement on the purchase of high-quality grain produced in the country, the Agriculture Ministry said on Oct.3.

"Unstable weather and heavy rains were the key reason for such extension," the ministry said.

The ministry extended the date of grain reception from local farmers until Oct. 30, the same source added.

Earlier, the Emergency Situations Ministry announced about the grain reception from farmers from Aug. 5 to Sept. 30 through enterprises Devechi-Dayirman, Karat-Holding, FATOGLU, Bakı-Taxıl named after N.Guliyev, Araz, Aveta, Tovuz-Baltiya LTD and Neon. The grain was purchased at the price of 180 manat per ton.

Under the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's decree, the State Grain Fund was transferred to the Emergency Situations Ministry from 2008 and therefore the power to regulate public stocks of grain and flour throughout the republic have been transferred from the Agriculture Ministry to the Emergency Situations Ministry.

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the fund must keep the stock, which should cover the two-month demand of the country, which is 270,000 tons of grain.

On Oct. 3, the official exchange rate is 0.8035 manat to $1.
