The Azerbaijani Trade Unions Confederation will create an audit management system for city and regional branches. The activities of unions will be monitored in regions and cities.
"These measures are necessary to ensure transparency at trade unions," confederation head Settar Mehbaliyev said.
He added that defalcating employee funds is an important issue at branches in regions and cities.
"Such incidents are inadmissible. Each employee every month deducted a part of his salary for social security. Entrepreneurs take these funds without paying membership dues," Mehbaliyev said.
According to the confederation head, the confederation appealed to the Presidential Administration to help deal with such incidents. Later amendments were made to the Administrative Code, setting a 1,500-manat penalty on individuals who fail to pay their membership dues.
He added that the confederation intends to prepare 2009 statistics and compare them with the figures from five years ago.
