Business Materials 12 January 2010 11:52 (UTC +04:00)

Once the 4th power generation station of Manjil wind farm comes on stream some 120 million KW would be added to the country's annual wind power output, Renewable Energy Organization of Iran's head said here on Monday.

The Mehr News Agency quoted Yousef Armodeli as saying that some 36 turbines are currently being installed in the site and it is estimated that the site will become operational in 3 or 4 months.

Currently 87 turbines are producing 180 million KW of electricity per annum in the Manjil wind power plant.

Iran has been experiencing a growth in wind generation in recent years, and has a plan to substantially increase wind generation each year. Iran is the sole center producing wind turbines in the Middle East. Iran is a member of the Global Wind Energy Council.
