"Intelligent farming" to start nationwide next year

The Agricultural Jihad Ministry spokesman said that a tentative "Intelligent farming" has been tested successfully in three provinces and it will be implemented nationwide in the next Iranian year (to begin on March 21).

Mohammad-Hossein Ansarifard stated the project will be carried out to increase efficiency and production as well as create grounds for collecting information.

He said that in this project cultivation has been chosen according to the provinces' climate, and special production in provinces will be in agreement with the provinces features. 

Ansarifard said that $2 billion had been allocated in the country's Fifth Development Plan to fight draught by enhancing agricultural infrastructure.

He cited restoration of farming lands and arboretums, improving irrigation networks and developing farm management techniques as ways to tackle water shortage.
