Trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan exceeds $0.5 billion

In 2009, trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan declined by 23 percent compared to 2008, the Georgian Statistics Department said today.

Trade turnover between the countries amounted to $544.4 million, representing 67 percent of the figure for 2008.

The trade share with Azerbaijan declined by 0.5-percentage points from 10.4 to 9.9 percent of Georgia's total export-import operations.

During the reporting period, the country exports to Azerbaijan decreased by $38 million compared to 2008. The largest export commodity groups are cars ($35.5 million) and cement ($22.4 million).

The country's imports from Azerbaijan decreased by $229.5 million up to $377.9 million, which equals to 62.2 percent of the rate in 2008.
