Black ink in foreign trade operations of Azerbaijan exceeds $8bn in 2009

In 2009, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover with 138 countries comprised $20.81 billion, the State Customs Committee reported. The black ink of import-export operations amounted to $8.57 billion.

In total 9,260 legal entities (4.080) and physical entities (5,170) participated in the foreign trade operations.

The amount of export decreased by 69.22 percent as compared to last year and comprised $14.69 billion. The share of public sector in exports totaled $13.76 billion (93.62 percent), private - $779.49 million (5.3 percent) and individuals - 158.9 million (1.08 percent).

In 2009, imports declined by 14.64 percent and totaled $6.11 billion. The share of public sector in import operations amounted to $2.02 billion (33.08 percent), the private sector - $3.73 billion (61.99 percent) and individuals - $301.62 million (4.93 percent).

In 2009, Azerbaijan exported 2,071 types of goods and imported 5,850.
