In January, 35 auctions and tenders for sale of municipal lands were held, the Azerbaijani State Committee for Land and Cartography reported today.
The committee held a total of 685 auctions and tenders in 2009. The first two auctions were held in the Absheron peninsular, Azerbaijan, in March, four auctions in April, 8 in May, 40 in June, 13 in July, 23 in August, 92 in September, 204 in October, 209 in November, 90 in December.
According to the Azerbaijani President's decree dated Dec.10, 2008, the local authorities' lands will sold through the auctions, the Committee is authorized to conduct auctions. Previously, municipalities had such power.
