IMF considers new opportunities for cooperation

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan, located in Baku, head of the IMF mission to Azerbaijan Nienke Oomes said at a meeting with the chairman of the State Committee for Securities (SCS) Rufat Aslanli, the State Committee's report said.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan, located in Baku, head of the IMF mission to Azerbaijan Nienke Oomes said at a meeting with the chairman of the State Committee for Securities (SCS) Rufat Aslanli, the State Committee's report said.

"Successful economic policy and work conducted by the State Committee will be useful for attracting potential investors to the capital market of Azerbaijan", Oomes said.

Aslanli has informed guests of the actions undertaken for the development of the financial sector, in particular, the securities market, as well as the preservation of stability in the Azerbaijani economy in the global crisis.

They also discussed initiatives within the concept of public awareness about the securities market and strengthening the education covering 2009-2011.

The IMF mission will stay in Baku until March 3. The main purpose of the visit is to hold consultations with the government on Article IV of the Agreement 'Establishment of the IMF', as well as discussion of the recommendations of the international organization to determine new opportunities for cooperation in the field of securities.
