The State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan has launched operational measures for ensuring a stable epizootic situation in the area of natural disaster (Aran zone), said in the Veterinary Service head Siale Rustamova's article.
"We know that as a result of river flooding extensive losses of animals and poultry occurred, if their remains were not buried in time, then a dangerous epizootic situation would emerge in the country", Rustamova said.
According to her, since the establishment of the operational headquarters in the natural disaster area, that is, from May 16, carcasses of 132 cattle, 205 - small cattle, the remains of eight dogs, 24,183 of various poultry were found.
Rustamova also noted that in connection with the situation special disinfecting vehicles, boats and various medicines have been brought to the natural disaster zone for a short time.
"If the works on disinfecting the territory were not be completed, the remains of dead animals could create a serious risk in terms of spread of infectious diseases and become a source of environmental pollution", Rustamova said.
According to her, the regional offices of veterinary services passed into intensified work regime to prevent infectious and parasitic diseases, as well as parasitic diseases among the evacuated animals.
