Azerbaijani investors have second highest amount of foreign investment in Istanbul

The number of foreign investors in Istanbul was up 6.53 percent in first half of 2010 over the second half of 2009, the chamber of commerce said on Sunday, Anadolu Agency reported.

The number of foreign investors in Istanbul was up 6.53 percent in first half of 2010 over the second half of 2009, the chamber of commerce said on Sunday, Anadolu Agency reported.
  
According to figures of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), the amount of foreign capital was up 27.16 percent in the mentioned period.
  
Around 1,403 foreign investors established companies with 254,8 million Turkish liras-TL of capital in the first half of 2010.
 
 The number of foreign investors in Istanbul was 1,317 and the amount of foreign capital was 200,4 million TL in the second half of 2009.
  
Also, the amount of foreign capital was up 44.68 percent in the first half of 2010 over the same period of 2009, and the number of foreign investors rose 15.47 percent.
  
Iranian, German, and Azerbaijani businessmen topped the foreigners investing in Istanbul.
  
However, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan and Czech Republic ranked the top three countries in amount of foreign capital.
  
Electric, electronics and informatics were the industries foreign businessmen invested in the most in Istanbul. Banking and insurance, automotive and by-industry and construction came after them.
  
"Turkey came out of the global crisis more quickly than the Euro zone, which attracted these investments," ITO chairman Murat Yalcintas said.
  
Yalcintas also said measures taken to eliminate concerns over sustainability of public debts and limit public expenditures helped Turkey attract investors in Euro zone.
