The Samarkand Lift Construction Plant was reorganized this week as an Uzbek-Russian joint venture.

The decision to reorganize the company was initially adopted at a general shareholders meeting in 2009. The Uzbek Justice Ministry approved the decision in 2010.

The Samarkand Lift Construction Plant was commissioned in 1975. The plant has a capacity of 7,000 tons of cargo per year.

The Moscow-based Peresvet Invest, one of the largest real estate companies in Russia, purchased a 75-percent stake in the plant in January 2007 for $1.3 million. The company won a tender announced by the Uzbek State Property Committee of Uzbekistan in August 2006.

Peresvet-Invest was founded in 1995, and is engaged in real estate operations on the primary and secondary housing markets in and around Moscow.
