Uzbekistan increases cargo transportation by 11 percent

Uzbekistan increased cargo transportation by 10.9 percent in January-June to 536.6 million tons compared during the same period last year, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee reported today.

About 481.9 million tons of cargo were transported via motor transport, which is 13.1 percent more than in January-June last year. Freight turnover increased by 5.5 percent to 10.1 billion tons-kilometers.

Cargo transportation by rail increased by 5.3 percent to 27.5 million tons (5.1 percent). Cargo turnover increased by 1.8 percent to 10.8 billion tons-kilometers.

Cargo transportation via pipelines decreased by 14.2 percent to 27.2 million tons (5.1 percent). Cargo turnover via pipelines decreased by 17.5 percent to 14.2 billion tons-kilometers.

Cargo transportation by air reached 14,100 tons (0.001 percent), which is 2.8 times higher than during the same period last year. Cargo turnover increased by 2.5 times to 82.9 million tons-kilometers.

Cargo turnover in the country fell by six percent to 35.2 billion tons-kilometers.

Passenger transportation via all modes of transport increased by 6.2 percent to 2.909 billion. Passenger traffic increased by 9.1 percent to 35.7 billion passengers-kilometers.
