According to the report of the European Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) on climate change, Azerbaijan pays serious attention to the environment and climate change, the Chamber of the country said.
The final report covers ten Supreme Audit institutions of Europe and the progress observed in their activities. Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Macedonia, Poland, Russia, Switzerland and Ukraine attended the audit on climate change.
The audit is to assess the implementation of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol, including the observations of climate change and its effects, measures aimed at reducing the impacts of climate change, predicting the actual level of emissions of greenhouse gases, and measures to prevent climate change.
According to the report, Azerbaijan has ratified 15 international conventions. A number of documents were approved to eliminate the current problems. According to the report, Azerbaijan is implementing pilot projects in this area. It negotiates with Canada, Denmark, France and Japan. In 2004, Azerbaijan and Denmark signed a memorandum of understanding in the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol.
