A delegation from the National Bank of Ethiopia is visiting Georgia this week to learn about successfully implementing a modern tax regime, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has said.

"We arrived in Georgia on the recommendation of World Bank consultant Andrew Mason. We are aware that recently the NBG has introduced a lot of modern tools, including a system of governance in high-technology processes. We intend to adopt the successful experience of Georgia [in Ethiopia]," the head of the Tax Systems Department at the National Bank of Ethiopia, Eob Gariesus, said.

During the week-long visit, which ends Sept. 7, the Ethiopian guests will meet with the leaders of Georgia's Tax Department and Information Technology Department, as well as tax systems project team members. They hope to become familiar with the methods of project implementation, attend presentations and hold discussions.
