In January-August Azerbaijan imported about 919,300 tons of cement and cement clinker, which is 23.3 percent less than the same period last year, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said. Cement and cement clinker in January-August was imported to the amount of about $42.1 million, which is 0.8 percent less than that of 2009.
Cement clinker in January-August was imported to the amount of 334,500 tons, 22.5 percent less than the last year. Clinker was imported to the amount of about $16 million, 17.1 percent more than the last year.
During January-August approximately 584,800 tons of cement were imported to the country, or 23.8 percent less than the same period last year. Cement worth $26.2 million was imported to the country, or 9.3 percent less than in January-July 2009.
In January-September Azerbaijan produced about 969,100 tons of cement, which is 2 percent less than the same period of last year.
