Azerbaijan covers 25 percent of the Czech Republic's energy needs, Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov said Thursday, speaking at an event dedicated to the Independence Day of the Czech Republic in Baku.
"Diplomatic relations between the countries were established in 1993, since then, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic have been growing every year, and today it exceeds $1 billion," the minister said.
The total amount of credits allocated to Azerbaijan by Czech banks amounted to $700 million.
Addressing the event, Czech Ambassador to Azerbaijan Radek Matula stressed the importance of the Azerbaijani-Czech relations for both countries and expressed hope for further development of this cooperation.
