Price for a bag of flour will drop to 18 manat from today, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry told Trend.

Today the price of a bag of flour, depending on the region varies from 22 to 28 manat. In connection with the rise in flour prices bread prices have increased from 0.3 to 0.4 manat per loaf in Baku stores from Nov.18. In some stores in Baku sellers relates rise in flour price with the disappearance of flour at wholesale points.

At the same time, the Agriculture Ministry said that at present the country doesn't observe any problem with grain supplies.

"We have about two million tons of grain reserves. Also, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has provided us with 700,000 tons of grain from grain fund and one million tons of grain is imported," the ministry said.

The total demand of Azerbaijan in grain hits three million tons.

"The unfavorable situation with the cost of grain on the world market will also impact Azerbaijan and will cause rise in flour and bread price," Merchants and Manufacturers' Union Chairman Sevgim Rahmanov told Trend earlier.

According to Eyyub Huseynov, the head of the Free Consumers' Union, the main reason for rise in bread prices in Azerbaijan is also associated with a decrease due to drought and other unfavourable factors of production of wheat and corn by exporting countries. Rise in grain prices in the worls market will affect all countries, including Azerbaijan," he said.
