WB studies funding of new projects in Turkmenistan

A delegation of the World Bank arrived in Ashgabat. The delegation discussed the possibility of expanding the funding of new projects and programs in the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy of Turkmenistan, the local media outlets report.

National television channel Altyn Asir reports that the meetings were held with top managers of state corporations "Turkmenneft" and "Turkmengaz". The meetings "discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in the context of the program of modernization and development of the fuel and energy complex implemented in the country.

The information noted that representatives of the World Bank voiced their intention to further enhance cooperation and in the near future intend to finalize the strategy of cooperation with Turkmenistan in the medium term perpective.

In October 2010, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Ashgabat, between the Government of Turkmenistan and the World Bank for the modernization of the Caspian port of Turkmenbashi. The project cost is about $ 62 million.
