Crop production decreases in Azerbaijan by 9 percent

The total crop production in Azerbaijan fell by 9 percent in January-November compared to the same period last year. The total agricultural production in January-November as a whole fell by 2.7 percent, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported.

As of Dec. 1, about 2000,3 tons of grain, beans were gathered.

Roughly 1,864.2 tons, or 93.2 percent fall to autumn and spring cereals, grain and beans, 136,100 tons, or 6.8 percent - corn.

About 1178,9 tons of vegetables (an increase of 1.5 percent), and 433,200 tons (an increase of 5.7 percent) melons were gathered.

The yield of melons has increased by 5 quintals up to 137 quintals, vegetables - by 2 hundredweight up to 147 quintals.

The average potato yield for the year declined by 2.6 percent up to 953,700 tons. The average yields of potato reduced by 3 quintals up to 145 per hectare.

As of Dec. 1, the following items were collected - 35,300 tons of cotton (growth of 24,8 percent) with the average yield of 11,7 quintals per hectare, 3,200 tons of tobacco (growth of 25.6 percent), 711,000 tons of fruit (growth of 0.9 percent), 539,500 tons of green tea leaves (growth of 41.7 percent) and 218,000 tons of sugar beets (growth of 0.5  percent).
