Volkswagen manufactured its 111,111,111th car, a plain Golf from its main range, on Wednesday at its headquarters factory in Wolfsburg in northern Germany, DPA reported.
Europe's biggest carmaker, No 3 worldwide, began mass production in 1945, making the Beetle. The compact Golf, now in its sixth generation, has been in production since 1974, with about 28 million Golfs produced to date.
