Goods exported from Iranian Sarakhs customs increase 119 percent

The goods, exported from the Iranian Sarakhs Customs, have increased by 119 percent in terms of weight up to 324,367 tons and in terms of value by 61 percent up to $50 million for the first nine months of this year [current Iranian calendar started on March 21, 2010], the general manager of Sarakhs Customs Office Habibullah Darayi, was quoted by Bena as saying.

The goods, transited from the Iranian Sarakhs Customs, have increased by 33 percent and reached 386,759 tons for the first nine months of this year.

The goods, imported from the Iranian Sarakhs Customs, have reached 363,614 tons during the reported period.

According to Iranian Customs Administration (IRICA) Head Ardeshir Mohammadi from March to November 2010, China was the main importer of Iranian products, whose share was 18 percent, or $3.094 billion in total. Iraq came as the second major importer of Iranian goods with a total amount of $2.843 billion.

Cement, foodstuff, carpet, plastic products, and home appliance were the main exported items during the reported period, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.

Earlier, Iranian Deputy Commerce Minister Massoud Movahedi said that despite sanctions against Tehran, the level of the country's trade ties with other countries is on the rise.

The total value of Iran's exports reached $14.448 billion. It was marked by a 23 percent increase compared to last year.

"Based on such policy, developing relations with the countries of Asia and Oceania is among the government's top priorities," the Iranian official explained.
