Inflation rises again in Iran, hits 10.8%

According to the latest report by the Central Bank of Iran, the nation's inflation in the Iranian calendar month of Day (December 22 -January 20) stood at 10.8 percent.

The figure hit 10.8 percent in the period from January 2009 to January 2010 compared to the period from January 2008 to January 2009.

The inflation rate has risen this month to 10.8 percent from 10.1 percent last month.

The consumer price index for goods and services increased by 2.7 percent from December 22 -January 20 and by 15.8 percent compared to the same period last year, the Central Bank of Iran reported. The Iranian New Year begins in March.

According to the previous report by the Central Bank of Iran, the nation's inflation in the Iranian calendar month of Aban (October 23 - November 21) stood at 9.7 percent.

The inflation rate has risen this month to 9.7 percent from 9.2 percent last month.
