Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan held on Friday the first video-conference with regional departments of the Ministry. The video link was established with the Ganja department, including representatives from 12 surrounding regions of Azerbaijan.
"By the end of the year, it is planned to establish a system of operational video communication with 39 regions of the country to more effectively address the problems of the population," the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan Fizuli Alekperov said during the conference.
According to the head of information and communication technology group at the Ministry Mammad Aslanov, under the Social Protection Development Project for Azerbaijan, supported by the World Bank, there are plans to build new administrative buildings and connect them through fiber-optic lines that will provide an opportunity for an effective audio and video connection within a corporate network.
As part of establishing a corporate network, an information database of the Ministry has already been created, which reflects the information about the recipients of targeted social aid, social benefits, and currently the database is formed on labor inspection, Aslanov said.
During the meeting, Alekperov instructed the relevant structures to provide communication with remote regions, particularly with Lerik, Yardimli and Gedebey for quick solutions to social problems of the population of these regions.
According to Alekperov, the work on the automation of corporate communications network at the Ministry is implemented as part of the 'E-Azerbaijan' state program.
Ministry of Labour has almost completed the automation control system and will soon conduct works to ensure electronic document circulation with other ministries and government agencies.
The development of automated corporate network of the Ministry is implemented as part of Social Protection Development Project for Azerbaijan jointly implemented by the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank. The total project cost is $54.6 million. To finance the project, the World Bank has allocated $26.7 million under the International Development Association (35 years with a grace period of 10 years and 0.75 percent per annum).
The project envisages complete institutional development and modernization of professional training, development of professional classifiers based on European practices. Professional training centers are expected to be created at the Ministry. The project is designed for five years.
