This year, Kazakhstan and Ukraine should determine the timing of the project on joint production of aircraft model Antonov 140-100, Ukrainian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Oleg Demin told Trend on Thursday.

"The negotiations are underway between the two governments to be able to start production in Kazakhstan to assemble aircraft Antonov 140-100," Demin said.

He said aircrafts of this model are designed for short and medium distances.

"This aircraft will be able to cover the distance, not only internally in Kazakhstan, but also to provide non-stop flights to Moscow and Kiev," Demin noted.

Today a feasibility study for this project has been already prepared.

"There are no obstacles to the implementation of the project. During the year, the parties should determine the timing of the project and the location of the plant to assemble airplanes," Demin said.

Previously, Demin said the assembly plant would be located in the south of Kazakhstan, Almaty region.

"In addition, now under discussion is to establish a base for production of a number of components for such aircraft in Kazakhstan," he added.
