In January 2011, the industrial production [produced industrial goods and rendered services] in Azerbaijan totaled 2.5 billion manat, which is 3.3 percent less than in January 2010, the State Statistics Committee said.
Private sector's share increased by 1.7 percent, amounting to 80.6 percent of total industrial production.
While 92.3 percent fell to the production of industrial goods, 7.7 percent - industrial services. Production in non-oil industrial sector grew by 9.4 percent.
During the reported period, the volume of production of the extractive industry fell by 3.7 percent, amounting to 1.8 billion manat with special weight of 74.4 percent of total industrial production. The volume of oil produced by companies that are part of the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) for the period reached 4.1 million tons and natural gas - 2 billion cubic meters.
The volume of production of processing industry amounted to 476 millionmanat increasing by 3 percent.
During January there was a significant increase in production of motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers (47.4-fold), production of electrical equipment (5 times), metallurgy (14.3 percent) and chemical industry (35.1 percent).
Food production increased during this period. Fishery production in the country increased by 2.3 times and amounted to 46.8 tons, meat - by 2.2 percent (21,000 tons), milk - 5.4 percent (59.1 thousand tons), butter - 0 8 percent (1.8 tons), cheese and cottage cheese - by 2.2 percent (3.7 tons), vegetable oils - by 41.7 percent (8.7 tons).
