The Georgian-Russian talks on Russia's accession into the World Trade Organization have ended in vain.
As Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergi Kapanadze, who represented Georgia in the talks, told journalists, the sides failed to agree on fundamental issues.
Meanwhile, he said the delegations agreed to continue consultations and regular meetings will be held within the next two months.
"We once again demand the fulfillment of our initial demands - control over checkpoints in the Abkhazian and South Ossetian sections of the Georgian-Russian border. However, Russia is against this ," Kapanadze said.
He stressed that the Georgian side has proposed a compromise option, agreeing to hold EU monitoring at these checkpoints.
"But this proposal does not suit the Russian side, which is unwilling to concede anything," Kapanadze said.
