Turkmenistan to host CIS Interstate Council's meeting

The 39th meeting of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the Commonwealth of Independence States (CIS) is scheduled for May 11-13 in Turkmenbashi, the structure reported.

The Bureau of Standards including expert groups and regional information centers is a working body of the Council.

The Turkmen governmental meeting has recently mulled preparations for this event, the Turkmen media said on Saturday.

"This event opens up new possibilities for building a full-scale cooperation with major international organizations and various world countries," Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said. "The event seeks to contribute to the country's successful integration into the world economic relations."

The meeting will be attended by representatives of the major international organizations, particularly the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Euro-Asian Cooperation of National Metrological Institutions (COOMET) and others.
