The transport and communications sector was called a promising areas of bilateral cooperation during yesterday's phone conversation between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
"The sides paid special attention to the process of practical implementation of a major joint project on a transnational railway North-South initiated by Turkmenistan," the information said.
According to the preliminary calculations, the annual volume of own and transit cargo will reach 10-12 million tons. Moreover, this corridor will be 600 kilometers shorter than the existing entrance through Beyneu--Turkmenabat--Sarakhs.
