Starting from tomorrow, Baku Taxi Company, which manages a fleet of new cars of London Taxi TX4, plans to reduce tariffs for passenger transportation, the Transport Ministry said on Monday.

According to the ministry's representatives, the decision in this regard is expected to be taken within the day.

At present, the tariff is as follows: when boarding a passenger pays one manat, and for every subsequent km - 0.7 manat. Passengers can use services of new taxis when traveling outside of Baku, the source said.

Some 100 new London Taxi TX4 purple cars have been delivered to Baku and by late this year their number will increase to 1,000 units.
A new private company was established called Baku Taxi Company to develop a program launched by the Transport Ministry.

The company has set a tariff for the use of new taxis.

A supply agreement was signed with Shanghai LTI Company, a joint venture between Manganese Bronze Holdings and the Chinese Geely Automobile Holdings Limited. It is the largest contract for the company. The total cost is about $ 27 million.

The Transport Ministry said earlier that it plans to deliver 3,000 new taxis.

In general, 7,000-8,000 cars from different manufacturers are planned for delivery to provide taxis to Baku and various regions of Azerbaijan.
