Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has launched a project to manufature Ssang Yong cars in Kostanai during a national teleconference.
"Could we ever dream about manufacturing world-class quality cars? I saw here at the show an entire series of cars produced in Kostanai. This is a joyful event for Kazakhstan," Nazarbayev said.
The project cost is estimated at 2.4 billion tenge.
The project aims at organizing a major assembly production with increasing level of localization through the development of the production of spare parts and components, creating a new modern plant for the production of machine building products with high added value, mass production of automobiles.
It is planned that 100 percent of Ssang Yong cars assembled in Kazakhstan will be sold on the domestic market.
