Iran earns $26 bln buying gold

Despite the recent global economic crisis, Iran's gold reserves have hit a new record, the IRIB reported quoting Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Governor Mahmoud Bahmani as saying.

Bahmani said the CBI has bought gold worth $13 billion.

Bahmani added that Iran bought the gold at $656 per ounce and it is now worth $1870 per ounce.
