Azerbaijan Airlines will complete renovating and modernizing the outside of the Baku Heydar Aliyev airport by mid-May 2012, Deputy Chief Sabir Ilyasov told Trend.
"The reconstruction operations have been already launched at the Baku airport," he said. "These will be completed by the period of holding the Eurovision song contest in May this year."
The reconstructed airport will be ready to serve tourists visiting Azerbaijan in connection with the "Eurovision-2012" song contest, he said.
He said the company has prepared a special action plan to conduct the relevant operations.
The Heydar Aliyev International Airport is located northeast of Baku.
Azerbaijan Airlines provides passenger services to Europe, CIS, Middle East and Asia.
The airline is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
