Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russian Federation's Astrakhan region increased one and a half times during the year, Astrakhan Region Governor Alexander Zhilkin said in Baku on Thursday at the presentation of economic opportunities of the region and Azerbaijan.
"Last year, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan region totaled $12 million, and it will reach $30 million by the end of this year," said the governor. Accordingly, the trade between the sides is expected to grow by 2.5 times.
He said the Astrakhan region imports from Azerbaijan machinery, equipment, fruit and vegetable culture, and Azerbaijan, in turn, exports machinery, and salt.
"We also consider the possibility of repairing locomotives of Azerbaijan at the Astrakhan plant, which was completely modernized," said Zhilkin.
According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, Russian trade turnover with Azerbaijan amounted to $1.947.9 billion in 2010.
