The volume of commodity transit from Iran will reach 12 million tons by the end of current solar year(strated on March20,2011) , IRNA reported qouting Iranian Deputy Road and Urban Development Minister Shahriyar Afandizadeh as saying.
" The volume of commodity transfer in last solar year(ended on March20,2011) was 9.5 million tons with 34 percent increase ," he said.
He noted Iran plans to construct 4,000 kilometer railway to develop transit routes and connect to Europe and Asia.
Iran invested $ 600 million in construction of Tamarchin border terminal in Piranshahr at West Azerbijan province which would connects Iran to Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, North Africa , Mediterranean and south of Europe.
More than 100 countries choose Iran as the transit destination and that testifies for secure routes and low fuel costs.
