Uzbekistan plans to attract $ 1.7 billion in the textile industry to implement 55 investment projects in 2011-2015, the documents spread by Uzbeklegprom at the International Cotton and Textile Fair in Tashkent on Wednesday said.
According to "Uzbeklegprom", about $1.8 billion foreign investments have been made in the textile industry for the years of independence. About 150 investment projects were implemented.
Foreign investments worth $119.4 million were made in the industry in 2010. About 27 companies were commissioned.
About 28 textile enterprises worth $150 million are planned to be commissioned by late 2011.
At present, the total volume capacity of the Uzbek textile enterprises is 373,000 tons of cotton yarn, 282 million square meters of cotton cloth, 81,800 tons of knitted fibers, 168 million pieces of garment and knitwear and 71.3 million pairs of hosiery.
"Uzbeklegprom" unites enterprises of light industry in Uzbekistan. The company comprises 277 enterprises, of which 150 - enterprises with foreign investments.
