The Azerbaijani Tax Ministry and International Monetary Fund (IMF) discussed the formation of the favorable climate for innovation in the country, the ministry reported on Friday.

Deputy Tax Minister Natig Amirov held a meeting with IMF's Chief Economist for the Middle East and Central Asia Maria Albino-War at the ministry.

During the meeting, Amirov spoke about the reforms taking place in the tax system, and success achieved in this area, as well as the importance of holding meetings with the IMF.

Albino-War expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with Azerbaijan, results obtained in the field of improvement of tax administration and broad use of e-services.

The sides exchanged views to form a favorable climate for innovation, minimize contacts between taxpayers and tax authorities, create a favorable environment for voluntary compliance of tax obligations and reduce administrative costs.

The meeting also discussed the challenges facing the ministry, changes in the tax code, main results of the IMF technical assistance mission on tax administration and other matters of mutual interest.
