Bank deposits increase in Georgia

The total amount of commercial bank deposits (including current accounts of business and farm sectors and time deposits, and interest on loans) as of Oct. 1 amounted to 5.3 billion lari ($1 = 1.66 lari), the National Bank of Georgia said.
This figure is 72.1 million lari or 1.4 percent more than Sept. 1. The accounts of the business and farm sector increased by 32.3 million lari or 1.5 percent in September compared with the previous month, and the growth of time deposits was 40.9 million lari or 1.3 percent.
The coefficient of dollarization of deposits as of Oct. 1 amounted to 68.6 percent, 1.2 percent more than September. The average annual interest rate of term deposits was 8.9 percent, including deposits in national currency - 11.6 percent and foreign - 8.5 percent.
The dollar's share in deposits in banks amounted to 74.2 percent, euro - 19.9 percent.
