Belarus to build large chemical complex in Turkmenistan by 2015

The construction of a mining and processing complex for potash fertiliser production based at the Garlyk potash field located near Garlyk, Lebap region is running to schedule, the Neytralniy Turkmenistan newspaper wrote on Thursday.

The complex's capacity will be 1.4 million tons of potassium chloride per year and the commissioning of this giant chemical complex is scheduled for early 2015.

At this stage, the necessary exploration work and project documentation have already been carried out along with the construction of the industrial site's first buildings.

The company is built on the basis of a contract signed between the state concern Turkmenchemistry and JSC Belgorkhimprom (Belarus), the article reads.

Production will include the mining complex of underground excavations of potash ore and a processing complex consisting of powerful flotation plants to enrich the ore and turn it into the finished product, potash fertiliser. According to experts, around eight million tons of ore per year will be extracted from the underground mines.

In addition specialist tailor-made machinery for mining and the flotation plant has been brought in.
