Iran imported about 7,000 tons of wheat from Ukraine worth $2 million in September, the Ukrainian state official said.
The wheat exported from Ukraine in September hit 1.58 million tons, worth $401 million.
Iran plans to export 2 million metric tons of wheat in the current Iranian calendar year (to end on March 2012) after a decrease in government subsidies reduced domestic grain consumption.
Iran did not export wheat the previous year and forecasts, Iran Economic Affairs and Finance Minister Shamseddin Hosseini said in July.
