Turkmen energy complex in talks with foreign partners

A series of meetings were held with representatives of Adhgabat’s major oil and gas companies, at a request from Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, an official Turkmen source said on Friday.

A series of meetings were held with representatives of Adhgabat's major oil and gas companies, at a request from Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov, an official Turkmen source said on Friday.

He said Deputy Prime Minister Baymurad Khojamuhammedov, who oversees oil and gas sector, represented the Turkmen side during the talks.

In particular representatives who attended the meetings were from Gazprom (Russia), CNPC, LG International, ConocoPhillips and Hyperdynamics (USA), Dewey & Le Boeuf and CGG Veritas (France), GARO and Tecnint (Italy), Technip MMHE-TPGM SDN. BHD"(Malaysia), Shell Exploration & Production and Exxon Mobil (USA), RWE Supply & Trading (Germany), Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan) and the EurasiaDrilling Company (Russia).

Turkmenistan is one of the key natural gas suppliers in the Caspian region, linking its future with the expansion of this new kind of fuel to world markets such as Europe, Pakistan and India. Today, Turkmen gas export is also delivered to China, Iran and Russia.

Turkmenistan previously invited foreign companies to take part in the development of capitalised offshore blocks in the Caspian Sea.
