Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 23 / Trend T. Jafarov /

The Iranian government's policy on eliminating the unemployment is inefficient, head of contract workers union, Fathollah Bayat said.

"If the changes proposed to the law on Labor are approved by the Parliament, the unemployment rate in the country will increase from current 20 to 25 percent until the end of the year (the year in Iran ends on March 21)," he was quoted by İLNA news agency as saying.

The article 41 of the current law on Labor says that wages are paid given the eight-hour day. If the proposed changes are approved, the amount of the workers' wage will change. The salary will be paid on the basis of the conducted work and taking into account the activity of the employee.

"The amendments to the law on "Labour" only protect the interests of the state," he said. The workers do not agree with these changes."

He said that wages of workers must be increased because of inflation in the country.
