The chairmanship in the intergovernmental commission has passed from Moldova to Romania in accordance with the annual rotation of the intergovernmental commission of international cooperation program in transport TRACECA's (Europe-Caucasus-Asia) annual meeting, TRACECA said today.
The intergovernmental meeting was held in Bucharest.
Romanian Transport Minister Anca Daniela Boagiu stressed the importance of expanding the geographical scope of TRACECA. She welcomed the opportunity of Turkmenistan's joining the TRACECA main agreement and the Turkmen delegation's participation in the meeting of the intergovernmental commission for the first time.
"We think that this corridor must offer not only cheap transport, but, above all, reliability and safety of transport," she said.
