Kazakhstan, Ukraine to build aircraft plant in 2012

Kazakh AeroKZ and Ukrainian Antonov plan to build AN-140-100 aircraft manufacturing plant in the capital of Kazakhstan in 2012, the general director of AeroKZ Vladimir Kuropatenko said, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported

"The plant will be launched in 2012 and we will manufacture three aircraft. Eight aircrafts will be commissioned in 2013, 12 aircrafts in 2014, while later on the number of aircrafts will reach 20," Kuropatenko said.

According to Kuropatenko, the total cost of the project with all infrastructures will total $150 million.

The aircrafts, to be manufactured at the plant, will be used for passenger's transportation on domestic flights.

AeroKZ and Antonov signed an agreement on joint production and post-sale servicing of An-140-100 aircraft in Kazakhstan on Thursday within a visit of Ukrainian delegation to Kazakhstan on Nov. 23-24.

AeroKZ is Kazakh aircraft building company, Antonov is Ukrainian State Aircraft Manufacturing Concern.
