Sowing of Turkmenistan crops is complete

The agricultural sowing season has ended in Turkmenistan with 860,000 hectares of fields having been sown which will yield 1.6 million tons of grain next year, the country's Agriculture Ministry said on Monday.

According to the report, including the Akhal Province where it is planned to gather 450,000, the Mary - 380,000, Lebap - 350,000, Dashoguz - 300,000 and Balkan - 120,000 tons of grain.

The current sowing took place using high tech machinery from John Deere, Case and the Technology of Belarus. We used high yielding varieties of wheat seeds such as Sahrai, Dzhuvan, Old Man, Jubilee 100, which are proven to work in the soil and climatic conditions of the country.

The country's farmers have now begun the first round of vegetative watering and spraying with mineral fertilisers with particular attention being paid to weed control.

Turkmenistan was among the wheat exporting countries in 2010.
